The best lip balm for men is about the only thing that can save your lips from being chapped like crazy, especially in the colder winter months. Many of us actually call it Chapstick, even though technically, it's lip balm.
Chapstick is just one of the most popular brands. Woops, that's news to most of us.
Here's the thing:
As guys, we usually don't pay attention to how our face may be looking or how good of shape our lips are in.
We can be downright neglectful at times at taking care of ourselves. I've done it, you've done it, it happens. And we are afraid we look girly if we use products on our face.

It's OK though...
As men, we have a little bit of a license to look rugged. However, if you suffer often from chapped lips, you know that it can be a real pain in the rear.
And sometimes it goes beyond rugged, into bad territory.
Not only can it get so bad that it looks like you just crossed the Savanna desert and you haven't had a drink of water in a week, but your lips could get so dried out that they start bleeding.
Good News!
There are products out there that can help with this problem, and it doesn't have to be "too girly".
We got some good options as men that keep the lips in good shape, and smell pretty awesome too. These are products that won't make our lips glossy at all, just hydrated.
That way we are comfortable, look good, smell good, and the ladies are happy with the ole smoochers. That's a quadruple win for us lads.
In this article, we are going to run through the best options out there, put in order based on popularity and performance. Taking care of your lips is just one part of your grooming as a man.
Here's the real kicker...
If you carry a tube of this stuff on you, it turns out that there are many different things you can use it for in a survival situation. Check out these 25 manly reasons to carry lip balm:

Things To Consider
Flavor
Go with something that tastes good to you, and check with your lady to make sure she likes it too. There are many flavors out there to choose from.
If you are not into a flavor, there is usually unflavored options as well.
Scent
The scent usually goes along with the specific flavor that you go with. Of course there is unscented if you prefer that. Unscented is a requirement if you're out hunting.
Make sure that you go with a scent that doesn't conflict with your deodorant, aftershave, or cologne. Also, you may want two different scents: one when you are with the fellas, and one when you're with the lady.
Chemicals
Most products are fine for the average male. However, a very few might develop some chemical sensitivities throughout your life.

No worries if you do, it just means you might have to be a little more picky with the type of lip balm you go with.
The best thing to do is to try out a few different brands and see how they work out for you.
There are many organic or natural products out there that might be less oppressive on your lips if you fall into this category. Bee's wax is a common safe ingrediant.
For the rest of us, you don't have to worry about this one.
Built-In Sunscreen
If you have fair skin, or during summer months, consider getting some that has sunscreen built in.
While it doesn't seem like a big deal to you young bucks out there, decades of sun damage can add up and cause you some problems later in life.
It's usually a good idea to get a little protection when you can. My recommendation is SPF 12 or more.
Remember that the SPF system is very odd, and when its 12 it means you are blocking about 90% of the sun that will hurt you.
Any more SPF just gets you closer and closer to 100%. SPF 12 is great if you aren't in direct sunlight for a long time. Consider SPF 25 if you will be out in the sun a lot.
Best Lip Balm For Men
1. Best Chapstick For Men
Most of us think Chapstick instead of lip balm.
It's because the company has done such a great job of marketing that we call the product by their brand name.
Chapstick made our number one spot because it is so popular and easily available.
You can easily find it at your local Walmart or grocery store in the checkout lane.
It's pretty cheap, works great, and there are many flavors to choose from. My recommendation is to find a specific flavor of Chapstick that you like.
As far as the best one to get, most people like the classic. It's the one with the white and black tube.
Heck, it's been around since the 1880's, so you know it works. It's definitely your dad and grandpa's go to tube.
The other good thing is that when people see it, they know its lip balm and no one is going to give you crap for putting it on your lips.
It's the manliest option by far. It's unflavored and unscented, but smells and tastes like medicine in a good way. It also feels really good going on.
Of course, there are other options if you want more flavor and smell goods.
They have flavors like cherry, strawberry, and vanilla mint.
If your lips are really bad off, consider using the classic medicated version to get them back in shape. It will dull some of the pain.
I've used the vanilla mint with SPF 12 for years, but I'm not sure if they sell it at your local store anymore.
Another option is some with moisturizer built in that also has SPF 12 in it.
The best thing to do is to go to your local store and grab a few of different ones to try. You'll most likely find one that works well for you.
2. Burt's Bees
Burt's Bees is a company that started back in 1984. They have a pretty neat history if you check them out.
Their products are always focused on natural ingredients instead of manmade chemicals.
This is our second recommendation and for good reason.
It works well. Their classic version is mostly beeswax and a touch of peppermint.
It's got a little Vitamin E added as a moisturizer.
There are also many other flavors to choose from, so if the original peppermint isn't your thing, check out the other ones.
This product has become extremely popular over the last several years, and gives Chapstick a run for their money.
3. Jack Black Intense Therapy
If you have some severe chapped lips going on and the popular options we've already covered aren't working for you, then it's time to give Jack Black a try.
The intense therapy is a great solution to help moisturize your lips at a deep level.
There is also SPF 25 sun protection included, so it's great for summer months if you're out in the sun a lot.
Most people like the natural mint flavor.
4. Beessential
Another great option if you are into the bee's wax solution is the Beessential brand.
They are also big on natural ingredients and creating a great product that works.
The packaging isn't too girly and it won't leave a gloss on your lips.
That means it's a great choice for us fellas.
There are some nice flavors to choose from, including lemon, honey, and ginger.
5. Maple Holistics
When flavor is your top priority, it's hard to beat the balm by Maple Holistics.
They are also on the beeswax and natural ingredients kick like some of the others.
The awesome flavors include peppermint, berry, pomegranate, and vanilla.
The packaging is very gender neutral, so it shouldn't be a problem carrying it around and using it in public.
6. Beauty by Earth
If you just want something simple, but don't want Chapstick, then take a look at Beauty by Earth.
Now, here's the thing: the packaging looks manly, the product works well for men, but the name?
If you can get past using something by a company called Beauty, then this product is pretty kick butt.
The name isn't pronounced on the packaging, so I think our cover is secure if we use it.
7. Sky Organics
Want something a little different? Go for the Sky Organics brand.
It's the same kind of deal with this product being all natural.
What is cool is the variety of awesome flavors, including vanilla, coconut, mint, cherry, citrus, and strawberry.
It has the perfect balance of flavor and scent, protecting your lips stealthily.
Conclusion
We don't always use lip balm, but we should. Keeping our lips in good shape not only helps us look better and feel better, but it also makes us more enjoyable to the ladies in our lives.
I'm sure you get tired of biting off that old, dried, dead skin off on your lip or trying to pull it off with your fingers.
If you aren't careful, your lips can get so dry that you end up "splitting" them, making it look like someone belted you in the mouth.
It turns out there's an easy solution that is super cheap: lip balm. If you apply it every morning before you go out of the home, then you should be set for the rest of the day in most cases.
If you're outside in a lot of wind, or the weather is crazy, you might need to put some on half way through. That's all it takes to maintain some awesome lips that are ready for anything.
Take care of your lips gentleman.
Now that your lips are safe, you should consider going North a bit to make sure that your nose is well trimmed. The easy solution is a good nose hair trimmer.
Since winter time takes it toll on your lips and hands the most, you should also take care of those hands with the right gloves.
